Domestic worker UIF — quick answers

Do I have to register my domestic worker for UIF?
Yes. If your domestic worker works more than 24 hours a month for you, you must register as an employer and contribute to the UIF.
How much UIF for a domestic worker?
UIF is 1% deducted from the worker plus 1% paid by the employer (2% total), calculated on the wage up to the monthly ceiling of R17 712 — so the maximum each contributes is R177.12.
How do I register?
Register as a domestic employer on uFiling (ufiling.labour.gov.za), or call the UIF on 012 337 1680. Register the household (form UI-8D), declare your worker's details (form UI-19), then pay 2% (1% you + 1% the worker) each month.
